Obscure Desires is a contemporary circus theatre production that weaves together theatre, acrobatics, and live music into a powerful story about the universal longing for connection.
Inspired by The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, the performance follows a cast of distinct characters as they navigate missed opportunities, hidden potential, love, loneliness, trust, and belonging. Across five interconnected chapters, their journeys unfold through movement and music, revealing the emotions we often struggle to express in words.
Rather than presenting circus as spectacle alone, Obscure Desires uses physical storytelling to invite audiences into the inner worlds of its characters. Their struggles, relationships, and moments of transformation become a mirror in which audiences can recognise their own experiences, memories, and emotions.
Performed by a diverse ensemble of nine artists, alongside an original live score, the production creates an immersive theatrical experience where music and acrobatics are inseparable. Together, they tell a story that celebrates both our individuality and the shared humanity that connects us all.
